About Lamman Rucker

LAMMAN RUCKER, the handsome, magnetic, mega-talented leading man and star of Tyler Perry’s hit films “WHY DID I GET MARRIED?” and “WHY DID I GET MARRIED, TOO?” as well as hit sitcom “MEET THE BROWNS” is a fan favorite and force to be reckoned with. Carved from the steel town Mecca of Pittsburgh, PA and honed and polished in the streets of Washington, DC where he graduated from the illustrious Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Lamman Rucker is a living balancing act. An artist, activist, educator and entrepreneur, Lamman Rucker has developed into a multi-dimensional commodity with infinite potential and global impact.

In addition to his unforgettable role as ‘Sheriff Troy’, Lamman is also recognized as Mona’s boyfriend ‘Chase’ on UPN’s “HALF & HALF” as well as his bad boy characters in legendary daytime dramas “AS THE WORLD TURNS” and “ALL MY CHILDREN.” He has also been a memorable guest star on “LAW & ORDER”, “ALL OF US” and the popular Emmy Award-Winning television miniseries “THE TEMPTATIONS” as ‘Jimmy Ruffin’.

On stage, Lamman received a 2002 Audelco nomination for his portrayal of ‘Jason’ in Euripidies’ classical Greek tragedy, “MEDEA”, and is Co-Founder and an Executive Board Member of ‘The Black Gents of Hollywood’ – an all African-American Male ensemble theatre company committed to education through the arts, mentoring and uplifting youth, and restoring and reclaiming the positive image of the Black male through service and sophistication. Their current theatrical production, “BLACK ANGELS OVER TUSKEGEE”, has been running successfully Off-Broadway in New York City since late January of 2010 and is kicking off its national tour next year after being a special presentation at the National Urban League’s Centennial Conference, the NAACP Annual Theatre Awards and the National Black Theatre Festival.

“It is an honor to highlight the Tuskegee Airmen legacy in BLACK ANGELS OVER TUSKEGEE that contributes to restoring and uplifting the positive identity of the Black male. We come from a long history of excellence, dignity and self-determination. This play is a wonderful reminder of how incredible we are,” Lamman says.

Aside from being an artist, Lamman also considers himself an “Activist, Educator and Entrepreneur”.

In the community, Mr. Rucker is National Spokesperson, Board Member or Celebrity Advocate for numerous charities and non-profit initiatives including TIED TO GREATNESS, The Magic Johnson Foundation, ART CREATES LIFE, Inner City Industry, GOOD GROUND-GOOD LIFE, The Black AIDS Institute, GREEN FOR ALL and AHEAD, INC.

As an educator, Mr. Rucker holds a Masters Degree In Education and almost 15 years of experience as a middle school classroom teacher, Math specialist, curriculum consultant, after-school program director, camp counselor, career & life skills advisor, champion basketball coach, mentor and motivational speaker committed to the encouragement and empowerment of youth and their families.

In business, Mr. Rucker is a sound investor in real estate, inventor of educational products, a successful small business consultant, profitable film producer, President & CEO of two companies, and the Co-Creator of the incredible new All-Natural bath & body signature line of products called “FORPLAI” along with Koffee Day Spa of Dallas, TX.
